Re: swing keel replacement
I believe the registration number is punched on the transom just below the metal trim.

Replacing Halyards
Hello from the Midwest, I pulled my boat off the mooring yesterday. For next season, I’m considering replacing the current wire/ 3/8” rope halyards. The current halyards I suspect are original and the junction between the wire and rope is just a knot tied to a loop in the wire. Because of the config...

Re: Keel locking pin Issue
For what it’s worth, when I lower the keel all the way, the bolt will not go through the keel. I need to wind it up just slightly to find a sweet spot so that the keel bolt will easily pass through all of the holes.

Re: Bungee Cords on Tilt Up Rudder
Having the chords being adjustable would be a nice addition. My chord is a single length of 3/8” dia and is looped back and forth through the holes so that there are two lengths of the chord on each side of the rudder. The chord is secured to itself with metal hog ties. This was the way the original...

Bungee Cords on Tilt Up Rudder
Hello from Wisconsin, I have the standard tilt up rudder that is held down by a series of large bungee chords. When I first got the boat back in 2013, the chords looked old and did not consistently hold down the rudder when sailing. I replaced them and the problem went away. Today I was out sailing ...

Re: Favorite Brand for new sails
I just got a new main from National Sail Suppy out of Florida. The sail was made overseas by Rolly Tasker. I can’t say how it performs yet since the sailing season is just starting here in Wisconsin. However, the sail seems well constructed, was economical, and came very quickly. Attached is a pictu...

Re: Just bought SJ21 Hull #843
Welcome! I’ve really enjoyed learning to sail on my SJ121. I sail on lake Mendota in Madison Wisconsin, keeping the boat on a mooring during the sailing season. Unfortunately, I just hauled it out last weekend and put the rig in storage for the winter.... How about sharing a few pictures of your new...

Re: Surprisingly non-catastrophic rig failure
Interesting story. I moor my boat on Lake Mendoza over the summer and we get some pretty stiff winds that really make the boat bob around. In fact, I was down at the marina several years ago to check on the boat during a wind storm and witnessed another slightly larger boat break it's mooring line a...
