Re: Spinnaker Halyard
As noted Asym's aren't class legal, so not many people here are going to be running them. That being said, if you're not class racing, do what you want, and the max height, etc doesn't matter. That being said my boat has a ring (like a spinnaker\whisker pole ring) integrated into the forestay tang w...

Re: swing keel replacement
If you don't find a proper keel, you could contact Stephen at sjsailboats.com and see if he kept those molds. I am not entirely sure how much, or what he kept from Gene.

Re: Hibernation or Isolation
I move in August, so Mizu is mostly sitting... I'm hoping me and the fam will get on the water a bit this year, but I think we've canceled most Fleet 1 activities due to Covid.

Re: Hey, this board is still alive! And, anyone need parts?
Hmm. that's weird. The latest post I can see on the Fleet 1 forum is Aug 2019, just before the Chelan meet. I gave up trying to post anything over there, it just crashes every time I try. That is weird... I don't think Kris has been updating the "countdown calendar" but he is doing a bit of updates...

Re: Use of Chute Scoop for Spinnaker
One boat in our Calgary fleet set up a launcher on the deck...basically a sausage bag. Not wanting others to feel that was cheating, he stopped using it. But it did work. Perhaps we should ask the Class Measurer for a ruling on a scoop or other whatever method. We talked about this in Fleet 1 befor...

Also, the bottom hull fiberglass is dented up pretty bad. I would say it's pushed in about an inch from where it should be flush with the hull. Cutting into the bunks would enable me to sort of ... push back? What do you think? Get it up on a hoist, and work on your bunks. I had mine up on a hoist ...

Re: Sailing all summer!
Start with forestay length of 28 ft 4 in pin-to-pin for a generally good mast rake, adjust as needed to neutralized the helm, improve pointing etc. 28'4"? is that an east coast thing or typo? Us west coasters have always talked about 24'4", 28'4" sounds really, really long! 4' longer than our conve...

Re: Genoa rigging and other sail advice (cross post)
Update: Had reef put in but haven't installed the winches yet. this fall/winter has been so wet in NC that the lake I use has been above flood stage and the marina closed so I haven't even gotten to use my new sails. sucks for me. I wouldn't even bother... I don't even use my winches that came with...
