I'm actually looking forward to that, as we/Shalom evolves. My Daughter & Grandchildren live in Kissimmee so my plans include becoming a member of the Fleet. As for regattas, well, we will see. I found out what I was referring to is called a "Cunningham" and it is for adjusting the shape of the mainsail. According to my new rigger, they are nice but not important for cruisers and primarily "fair weather" sailors. Thoughts?

Mainsail block on deck?
I am just getting my SJ21 ready and I see many boats have a block from the deck to the boom just aft of the mast. How important is is that for cruising and easy sailing?
