Re: Loose Footed Main proposal?
The loose footed main proposal is scheduled for final discussion and vote at the Executive Committee next Wednesday. At that time we will be able to give you the official decision. I believe that chances are more than fair that the proposal will pass.

Sail Fail :(
So I tried to go sailing today and totally failed. The weather was perfect, the boat was ready, there were no mechanical problem or random issues, I started early in the day and still I totally failed to go sailing. It wasn't my fault though. You see, Montana had a very wet winter and its has been q...

Re: Removing green epoxy?
Heat gun is probably a good idea, if you're careful and don't get it too hot you shouldn't damage the fiberglass. If that doesn't work you may be grinding.

Re: How to: Select & Install an Adjustable (not split) Back
Ben, Here is a shot of the mainsheet bridle and head-knocker system used on both Blue Pearl and Kermit, two of the top boats out west. It's way too simple yet does what you want it to, center the boom when fully sheeted. Plus it totally clears up the cockpit. I used this set-up last weekend for a r...

Re: What would you like to see from this Class/Website?
Thanks for your post Christian, we really do appreciate your comments here and I think you are totally right. For a long time there has been no real purpose for being a Class Member for most of us. As this website evolves I hope that people will get a better idea of what the class does and everyone ...

Re: Spinnaker Rigging
I did put some thought into where to put the blocks for the spinnaker and I ultimately decided that the back end of the jib track was a really good place. Having them forward of the far back of the boat does several good things. First off, if you are flying the spinnaker in any breeze at all I found...

Re: Spinnaker Rigging
If you have genoa tracks on your boat, my spinnaker sheets just lead to blocks attached at the aft end of the genoa track.

Re: How much does just the trailer weigh?
There seems to be a lot of variation in SJ 21 trailers so it probably depends on how old your trailer is. A good guess though would be around 800 lbs.

What would you like to see from this Class/Website?
This website has been assembled for the SJ 21 Class and its Membership to help promote discussion and growth within the Class. I'm glad to see that we already have over forty members here. The Executive Committee has been working quite hard recently to develop this new tool and work on the other pro...

Re: My sail maker wants to know
Can we please focus on fixing the problems with our existing handbook PRIOR to make unnecessary changes to the sails? There are still conflicting drawings and descriptions for the class rudder. I know that the Chief Measurer has ruled that the written description has precedence, but unless you read...
