Mr. Rehm, age 94, of Camden, died Saturday, April 28, 2012. He was the widower of Anne Marie Woods Rehm. Born in West Palm Beach, Fl, he was the son of the late Frederick George William Rehm and Rose Irene Delfoe Rehm. Following his graduation from the University of Florida with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he joined the Field Artillery at Ft Bragg as a 2nd Lt. but left after a few months when hired by DuPont to help in the manufacture of high explosives and smokeless powder during the buildup to WWII. Later in the war, he supervised a control lab for the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, TN. He spent the rest of his career with DuPont, mostly in Camden, working with textiles, where he retired.

He learned carpentry in West Palm Beach working for his father’s construction company and later became a Journeyman Carpenter. Mr. Rehm built his own house and several boats. He participated in the expansion of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church building and in the reconstruction of the Douglass Reed House. He loved boating and was an avid sailor. He was one the of earliest members of The Wateree Sailing Club; a four time national champion of the San Juan 21 Class Boats and a long term editor of “Jibsheet”, the San Juan 21 Class Association publication.
