SJ 21 E Commodore Message 26 Feb 2014
Wow, the weather forecast for the TransMonroe Race to be held this Saturday on Lake Monroe, Sanford, Fl is fantastic!
Sunny, 78 F and wind out of the north at 10-15 mph
Lake Monroe Fleet Captain Bill Holstein is looking forward to having a strong showing of Juans at the event.
The class is offering a free year membership for any SJ 21 owner and friend of the class if they sign up by 30 April 2014. For a new member form go to the class web site at: http://sj21class.org/join.html
Registration for SJ 21 Mid-Winter Championship to be held at Lake Norman Yacht Club 15, 16 March is now open. If you register ($40) by 7 March you will avoid a $15 late fee.
Go to: http://www.lnyc.org/ and click on Keelboat Mid –Winters NOR to register.
Yours truly and my crew are going to be at the Shoals Grill the Friday evening before the Mid-Winters to have dinner and then be entertained by the highly talented Fleet #38 Captain Mike Robinson as he strums, sings and opens that fantastic “can of percussion.”
Shoals Grill is on the road (Brawley School Road) to the LNYC from Mooresville. It is in front of the Food Lion Store and next to McDonalds (35 deg 34.119’ N, 80 deg 54.114’ W).
Highlights from the SJ 21 Executive Committee conference call held 12 February:
- New members joining by 30 April get the first year free
- Class scale maintenance and handling costs
- Progress on updating the class handbook into the digital world. Moving for easy download of class docs for use by class members. Lots of work being done by Webmaster Kris Barker and others.
- 2014 NA’s Champs to be held 19-21 June on Whidbey Island, WA
- 2014 E. Nat’l Champs to be held at Lake Norman 30-31 August.
- Need for formal policy on class sponsors
- Next conference call is scheduled for 1st or 2nd Wk of Apr.

One item of upgrade to the web site is that the class officers PICS are being included so you can see a face behind the name. Click on PIC to get an expanded view of the mug shot.

I hope to see a bunch Juans at the Mid-Winters and looking forward to a report from Bill Holstein about the race Saturday.
Once again, I am sending this e-mail “BCC” to prevent inappropriate use of the East Commodore’s DL. If you know of anyone not getting this e-mail please forward their address to me. If you want to be dropped let me know.
If you want to communicate to the Eastern Members please send to me and I will forward….
This memo will also be on the web site.
