San Juan 21 Class Association

I think I want to mount my battery in the compartment on the starboard next to the switch pannel.  How do I get it to set level? How do I build a floor? How do I make a floor for such an odd placed a angle? Do I need to glass it in? Do I need marine plywood or teak wood for this floor? Any tips?  I welcome your response.
