SJ 21 Juaners: We hear some of the road warriors are checking out the trailer bearings, bunks and tires in preparation for next years trip to the NA’s. If your trailer needs new tires then make sure they get on Santa Claus’s list.

If you are apprehensive about attending the NA’s, please keep in mind that it is also a social event, where you can put faces on the names you read about, see how other boats are set up, and pick the brains of the experienced competitors and sail makers. The fully air conditioned CSC clubhouse will be open every day and evening throughout the regatta so there will be plenty of time to socialize, enjoy the entertainment, make new friends and enjoy the comfort and view from the front porch.

You will notice in the following NOR update that a number of sponsors have signed on and more will be making the commitment. Please keep these folks in mind when you need that new sail, piece of equipment or personal sailing gear.
We hope to see some of you at the CSC Midlands Regatta the first weekend in November. Please see NOR for more detail.

Follows is the Unpdated Preliminary NOR for the NA's posted on the SJ 21 Class Website as of 19 October 2012:

Please support these regatta sponsors**: Please go to the website "Events" and select "Nationals" for more detail on our sponsors.

2013 San Juan 21
North American and Eastern National Championships
Preliminary Notice of Race – Updated October 2012

The San Juan 21 Class Association Executive Committee has accepted the Columbia Sailing Club (CSC) and Lake Murray San Juan 21 Fleet #31 bid to host the 2013 San Juan 21 North American Championships to be held 20-23 June 2013 on Lake Murray, South Carolina.
On Thursday (20 June 2013) will be registration and measurements. On Friday, racing will begin at noon and continue all day Saturday with an awards dinner Sat. eve. Friday eve will feature a dinner with entertainment out of this world. Sunday will be a makeup day, if no race is completed.
We are planning to weigh boats along with the usual boat and sail measurements to ensure one design racing in both All Sails and Working Sails Divisions. We will attempt to have some good boats available for charter. We already have one West Coast skipper at the top of list for those who want to charter. To be scored in the regatta, all skippers must meet the eligibility requirements of San Juan 21 Class Association By-Laws 2.4 Article IV.
The CSC puts on a number of major regattas throughout the year and is looking forward to having the regatta. The CSC club house is fully air conditioned. There is plenty of boat trailer parking and dock space. A camping (RV’s need to reserve space in advance) area with power and showers is located next to swim beach. Many motels are close by. If desired, competitors can arrive several days early and enjoy the CSC facilities and tour the Columbia area which has one of the best zoos in the country (Riverbanks Zoo: www.riverbanks.org).

Take a long look at the CSC web site (www.columbiasailingclub.org/) and at Google Earth at 34 deg 3.852’ N, 81 deg 13.696’ W.

*Please check out the venue in person by coming to the Midlands Open Regatta Nov. 2-4. Save money by preregistering on-line by 26 Oct at: http://www.columbiasailingclub.org/.
