Sailing the grain- Kootenay Lake

Post by Krysia Ry » Mon Oct 29, 2012 2:57 am

Hi Folks,
Just a little more video on our beautiful lake here in southern BC. This weekend six boats sailed from Nelson to the south end of Kootenay Lake to deliver grain from organic farmers to the buyers in Nelson. It was a three day trip with winds 12 to 20+ knots. Definitely three fantastic days of sailing and great food and comraderie. Temps were 5 to 9 degrees celcius and as you will see there was fresh snow on the mountains. Saturday night was a rainy one but all the boats rafted up in Sawmill cove for refreshment and pasta. SAiling the big lake is pretty magical. Sorry but there weren't any Sj 21s out for this trip. On this big lake I opted for a friends Sj 24 for the warmth and comfort of a heavier boat in the cold weather and to entice my favourite ( only) woman in my life. There were two Sj 30s, 1 Sj 24, 1 Catalina 27, 1 J 29 and 1 J30.
Just in, happy and tired.
Bill
