Sanford Sailfest Regatta

Post by bohawn » Mon Dec 10, 2018 7:56 pm

This weekend the Lake Monroe Sailing Association hosted their Sanford Sailfest Regatta. Each December, LMSA hosts this charity regatta to help people in the Seminole County area.

This year San Juan 21 Fleet 29 ended their travel series at the Sanford Sailfest. Seven boats entered the event which six of them competed. It took over an hour for the winds to come in on Lake Monroe but as soon as the wind arrived the racing began.

The first two races were one lap races as daylight was burning and weather on the horizon for Sunday that could cancel racing. First race was won by Fisk Hayden on Ole Yella the SJ21 with sail number 1795. The second race was won by Bill Holestein on Blackjack the SJ21 with sail number 2430.

The last race of the day was a two-lap race with the winds picking up and the sun setting. Race three was won by team Blackjack with Bill Holestein on helm and crew Ana Gonzalez and Patti Miller. Racing was called off on Sunday due to weather.

The final and Official winner of the San Juan 21 Division at the Sanford Sailfest was Blackjack! Congrats to Bill, Ana and Patti on their win. Second place went to Randy Pawlowski on Justice sail number 810 and third went to Raymond Gresham and John Tyner on Temporary Insanity sail number 2510.

Scores posted below.
