Alternate Location/Dates
2016 SJ-21 Eastern National Championship
Lake Norman Yacht Club November 12 & 13
Hurricane Matthew spoiled our scheduled event at the Osprey Yacht Club, Albermarle Plantation. Many thanks to Larry Cohen and his Club for all the hard work that this unfortunate storm took away from all of us. By the way each of the paid registrants should shortly be receiving a refund of their fees less $30 in expenses that could not be recouped.
Now the good news Lake Norman Yacht Club has offered to host the 2016 event as part of their 26th Annual Keelboat One Design Regatta to be held November 12 & 13. Many thanks to Mike Robinson for volunteering and arranging for class activities in my absence. The notice of Race can be viewed at the Lake Norman Yacht Club website get your registration in today. I hope that as many class members as possible will be able to attend.
Note that there are a few key items that pertain to the San Juan Classes:
There will be a All Sails and a Working Sails Class if there are sufficient registrations by November 8 (minimum of 3 boats to make a class). There will be a fee increase after November 8.
Measurement of boats will be waived including sails. Boats are still subject to protest under US Sailing Rules.
A First Place Trophy along with the rotating Plaque will be presented in All Sails and Working Sails if there are sufficient registrations.
There will be a short Eastern Nationals Meeting at the close of registration Saturday November 12 (9:45am). New Business may be brought up at the meeting without discussion.
Please note that dinners are not included in the registration and no t-shirts will be available.
