Only 7 boats went out; 3 in AS and 4 in WS. We got 2 quick races in, and then the RC sent us in. They were watching radar, I think, and anticipated rain. As it turned out, we only got some spits, not a drenching, but Margaret and I were happy to stop after 2 bullets (in WS)…..
Fred was at the club and his boat was in the water, but didn’t leave the dock. Her decks are apparently too spongy to risk any loading at all.

For those who may not know, Fred is well into his 80's and started the idea of sailing on New Year's day out of Blackbeard Yacht Club 30 some years ago. The race is held regardless of the weather which in New Bern NC is usally pretty good for that time of year.
