Rudder paint

Are you supposed to use any special paint for the rudder or can you use the same paint you use for the hull? I am restoring a cosmetically challenged MK1 and the prior owner had obviously painted the rudder but that layer is badly chipped and peeled. I have scraped the top layer of paint off and sanded down to fiberglass. Now I would like to paint it. It looks like there may have been a layer of bottom coating under the final coat?

I've used basic krylon paint for mine... but I trailer sail mine, so it's never staying in the water.
