Brand new to the sailing world as of last fall. Wife and I bought 2184 and were able to get her enough times before winter to get bitten by the sailing bug. I am getting ready to convert the mainsail from bolt rope to sail slides. I will probably order these parts from West. Does anyone that has done this conversion know the correct size slide needed. Just being lazy on my part since the boat is not stored near my home over the winter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have seen a lot of very helpful information on the forum that being new to sailing will be useful. Have spent many years power boating, new to this side of the boating world.
I am thinking the parts for the jib down haul will be the next on the list before getting back out on the water.

Re: sail slides
I think 1/2" sail slugs will work, and you'll want a Davis 2350 sail track stop, also. Hopefully another forumite will chime in to confirm the size...
Best of luck, Roamer

Or check the Fleet 1 website, we have an article up about how one member did it himself.

Re: sail slides
I had a mast gate made for mine last fall by mastgates.com. The guy had me take all sorts of measurements and he recommended 1/2 inch slugs. A caveat though - this was a winter project and I haven't had a chance to try it out yet.

Re: sail slides
I was about to ask how the mast gate worked out but then read you hadn't had a chance to use it yet. Was the install fairly straight forward? Fairly cost effective?
