Spinnaker Halyard

Post by jasonparallel1 » Wed Nov 30, 2022 3:49 pm

Adding a spinnaker halyard for an asymmetrical I picked up on ebay and had a couple questions.

1. What did you use to attach the block to the mast. My boat is using one of these for the Jib halyard block https://duckworks.com/racelite-stainless-jib-strap/. Looks like they make a spinnaker specific one also. https://duckworks.com/racelite-stainless-spin-strap/
2. For the class rules on the max height, is that the top of the strap, the center of the block,or the highest point for the line on top of the block?

Ho Jason,
Asyms are not class legal. As per the height of the spin block, I believe that measurement is where the fitting attaches to the mast.

As noted Asym's aren't class legal, so not many people here are going to be running them. That being said, if you're not class racing, do what you want, and the max height, etc doesn't matter.

That being said my boat has a ring (like a spinnaker\whisker pole ring) integrated into the forestay tang where my spinnaker halyard block attaches to. I think most boats came from the factory like that.
