Spreaders

I know this is discussed somewhere, but I can't find it on either forum. What is the ideal length of the spreaders on a Mk1? And how far aft should they be swept? IIRC, it's 25.5" (spreader base to shroud slot) & as much as 6" behind the aft edge of the mast (tip-to-tip), though that seems like a lot.

FWIW, we sail in a relatively high-wind area and make limited use of the backstay for sail flattening. When it's windy, we reef.

BTW, I get a spreader angle of ~83 degrees to the mast, bent upward, when the upper shroud angle is properly bisected. That correct? I really should have sorted this out three years ago.

The class minimum for spreader length is 25". Short Spreaders are only an advantage when you use the Genoa as they allow you sheet in more.
One of the go fast sheets has the spreaders swept back 4".

Aha! Thanks. That's where the info was lurking. Is there any way to get these tuning guides pinned onto this forum?
