Rigging Pictures

Post by Helmar » Sun Jul 07, 2013 9:45 pm

Hi all.
I have spent most of the morning looking all over the Internet for any pictures of the rigging or standard rigging.

I did see some folks give you the option to the Rigging Clinic but I am down in Eugene Washington and well, Seattle is a tad bit of distance to tow up..

I have the mainsail up, the rear of the boom, not sure how to rig that...Or the Jib.
Do I need to send pictures of what I have??
I have seen pictures of some modifications but not looking to do that. I just want to sail this boat.
I am resealing the windows and resealing the teak with teak oil at the moment.

Thanks all.

Helmar, Fleet 1 does the rigging clinic, but i'm not sure if any other Fleet's do. We tend to only do one in late Winter right before our Spring Series starts, but we're always happy to help someone out.

Pictures are always helpful... As there are quite a few different setups for this boat, though stock configs were fairly similar. Feel free to check out some of the pics on sj21fleet1.org as we have pictures of different cock pit setups, jib, mast, and main raising systems, etc, so i'd hope some of that might help get you started.

I'm not sure where Eugene Washington is, and neither bing or google maps wants to help me out either.

Thanks
Christian

Getting old is never fun.
I have property in Washington and can see the Hood Canal from it but am living down in Eugene Oregon......No such thing as Eugene Washington or don't think so.
Anyway, sorry about the brain freeze..

I will take some pictures of the cockpit area and pass them along as I have gone and seen most of the pictures but didn't seen anything that was even close. Maybe because the photos were not in detail of that area I think.
Anyway, will get a couple of photos to share and thanks for the reply too. :-)

Helmar, that makes more sense, I know where Eugene OR is, and yes, that's a bit of a drive:) Though, we do have a fleet down in Coos Bay, which is still far, though not as far. So You might be able to find some help from the guys in that fleet if you did need a closer hand.

I don't think we have any pics of the stock setup, as I'm not sure anyone's using it in our fleet anymore, and in addition it was a fairly common mainsheet setup so pics are all over the net. It sounds like your boat is totally stock, and in the case, it's likely the same, or similar to the first image or two at the links below. I think one of the 1st or 2nd images actually links to the old San Juan 21 Harbor too.

Any pictures you have would be nice to help out with too.

Hi again.
Sure don't want to have to wait until next spring to get this figured out so I am hoping someone might have a little time with their knowledge.
I will attempt to put up some photos with some letters next to the blocks and such to maybe get a clue on what I might be missing.
I think I got the mail sail up the proper way, also think I might have the tip and front of the jib figured out.
Here is what I have..

Wow.....I guess there is no one, Right way is there :-)
I will go back out and see if I have any blocks on the bottom of the boom as I am trying to figure out what my needs are to what I am missing.

I just seen a name for Fleet 24 in this area? There is also a phone number. If they have one of these, I will give them a try first for sure.
If not, Coos Bay maybe.

I do have a shop up in Quilcene and worked out of another one called Island Boat Shop in Nordland.
In fact, here is a website and forum that I run. Hope this is allowed... http://www.classicboatclub.com
I have plenty of 50's and a few 60's power boats that I run. Even an old 1972 Bearcat 55hp 4 cycle (Yes, Four Cycle, 1972) on one of them.

I just got finished drowning the Teak in Teak oil and replacing all the windows. All were leaking and could pop out at any moment.

Here is an image of my cabin deck marked out with letters. Not sure where the jib lines, line, goes though of if one is for the spinnaker that I don't have for it?
Thanks for your help by the way !!

ABCD Genoa Rigging items, not sure what EF are? Cleats? hard to tell from the pic...

GHI are for your mainsheet rigging.

I've never seen JK set up like that, I think this is likely for one of the halyards, main it looks like since there isn't a second on the starboard side? Most boats IF they came with any winches, had them on the coamings for the Genoa, just likes yours does. Some, like Stephen Jensen have moved them up to the cabin top to get an extra pull on the various lines when needed. Yours has a 3rd winch(P), but not a 4th, so again i'm completely guessing it was put there to help get the main, or the jib up?

NQ/O(or is it M?) and U are for the Jib Sheet's.

I hope this helps?

your deck layout isn't seriously different from stock, but there are some changes I haven't seen before, so I do think someone has done some customization of the boat.

Boy it sure does help. Looks like all I need to get sailing is something called a Fiddel Block for the rear of the mainsail boom.
Thanks a bunch :-)

I have blocks at "G" and "H" also but mine seems a little more aft then yours. I am no sure what they are for. I have a traveler that spans the seats in mid-cockpit to control the main..

Stock mainsheet system most likely... Your Traveler was put on later in it's life by a previous owner.
