SJ 21 #1 in Fleet 29?

Post by Mark Sailmaker » Fri Dec 23, 2016 9:35 pm

I was reading race reports from ya'll down in FL and saw sail #1, Pivot. Is that really #1? I have #2 in Oriental, NC. Bought it in VA about 10 years ago from a guy who drug it across from WA. Spent some of the intervening time on fairly major rebuild of the deck, cabin top, divots in the bottom from a jon boat trailer, keel replacement - it had the original 52 degree keel - and Harken refit. Also had to add 224# of lead to get up to class weight! Almost every time I tell somebody that I have #2 they ask where #1 is...I'd like to be able to know. I read many years ago that it was in Austin TX....Thanks, Mark Weinheimer mark2sj@gmail.com

Don't think so; I think PIVOT is a Mark II (wouldn't hull no 1 be a Mark 1?). Randy Pawloski's (forgive my spelling) old boat before JUSTICE. But I'm still learning my way about SJ's....check out the Ocala Sailing Club website photos:

Our Bad on the sail number. A majority of the fleet are using recycled sails from one another and some of the numbers have been removed from the sails. I do not know if Pivot's actual hull number 10 but we will find out. Sorry about the conflict and confusion.
