Pround New SJ21 Owner

I remember when I was a young boy living on Watts Bar Lake in East Tennessee, my favorite memories were seeing beautiful sailboats gliding across the channels. We always owned powerboats so I never really had a chance to try sailing. Now at 53 years old I did it and found a beautiful 1978 San Juan 21 in excellent shape. For a week now it has been in my driveway getting some TLC and I have been reading forum posts and watching sailing videos of the SJ21's. I am very happy to see so many great posts on this site about so many different issues. Tomorrow morning The Mystique is going in the water rain or shine. I plan on being methodical and spending the day looking for leakage issues and raising her mast for the first time. Next, I need to learn rigging and basic sailing techniques. In 2 years my wife and I want to be competent sailors with a 40 ft. boat living the dream sailing blue water. I am a very determined person and I have a wife with full confidence in me. I am not so sure about our 2 dogs as they have yet to get their sea legs. LOL Thx ahead of time for the help I am sure I will get on this forum. I do believe in Karma between man and machine so I intend on her taking great care of us while we learn to be sailors. THX, Jerry, Christin, Duke II and Lucy.
