trailer boards

Post by Krysia Ry » Thu Jul 14, 2016 8:51 pm

Anyone ever use regular plastic boards for their bunks? I see expensive boards for sale n trailer sites but they seem to be rigid and mostly for heavy powerboats.

I considered something like Trex, but in the end it seemed like they weren't stiff enough to support my boat.

I don't think trex would do it, to limp. Pressure treated works and lasts a long time, unless you were wanting the slipperiness of HDPE.

I ended up changing my old Fleet Captain, or whatever the Juan came with stock from the pair of 2x6x5'rs that were on it to quad 2x4x8's. They bend easier and has probably 5 times the contact area supporting the hull.

Yeah, likewise I converted my roller trailer (bad idea for SJs) to quad 2x6 bunks. Supports the hull much better.

After this picture, I added an additional keel support.
