Grid pattern on cabin ceiling

Post by The Duck #889 » Thu Jun 02, 2011 5:32 pm

My ceiling has this odd pattern in it. Its like someone bored a bunch of holes and filled them with something. Any idea what this might be? And its growing mold, which is great. Taking care of that today...

Probably an attempt to fix a delaminated ceiling. Sometimes the bottom layer comes free from the Balsa core. My ceiling has some delamination that I'm going to fix. I give it an A for effort, but its probably not really all that effective in the long run. The better way is to cut the ceiling away in a few spot and then glue it all back together. But as long as its still solid I'd just leave it alone, although you could sand and spray paint it to seal it a bit.

Could also be an attempt to drain the soggy balsa core.
